Started C25K this week. I don't know how many weeks it will take me to complete the program but I don't care. The toughest thing for me was trying not to feel self-conscious as I hauled my 226lb body around the park. As each group of slim runners passed by me I thought "that will be me next year". I felt eyes following me as I repeatedly pulled my T-shirt down over my belly and tried to avoid getting a black eye from my bouncing boobs but I imagined that people were cheering my efforts to become fit and healthy rather than mocking me. Second run tomorrow :).

Well done! Sorry for laughing about the black eyes from your bouncing boobs - I have the same problem if I try running

Well at least you guys don't have moobs like me. No worries, a Real Man's chest is in the works right now.

I find runners as a group the most supportive bunch. As long as they see you out there trying they are behind you all the way. A good sports bra should keep the black eyes at bay :) Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your support and I'm glad I brought some laughter into your day. Don't worry, I'd have laughed at myself if I hadn't been so out of breath. Moobs need support too ;).

Definitely agree on a good sports bra but they're few and far between in the size I need ... which I'm not disclosing but it's further down the alphabet than average (a lot further)

I belong to a Run4Life Group and completed the Couch25km in May. I could not recommend it more, and if you need to, redo the programme - you will be astounded by how much better you are the second time around. Together with the Parkrun franchise, many of these groups are supportive and non-judgemental. Good luck and enjoy the journey. Every step you run, moves you towards being a runner. The 18 minute barrier is the epiphany moment for most. Travel your own journey and resist the urge to judge yourself against others. E
