Down another pound, which makes 4 pounds in 4 days! Honestly I'm really surprised. Happy, of course, but surprised. I know that it's the initial drop and not a rate that I can expect to keep up for the duration of this process, but it is really a wake up call for me on how many unneeded calories I was taking in with snacks, drinks, etc. It's another nice day here and I'll do more walking and then play soccer with my women's group tonight. I know that the kids will be doing more baking, so there will be treats in the house and I'll need to be careful about that.

Having sweets around is really hard. Can you think ahead for a healthy sweet substitute that you can have instead? I like berries and nuts or a whole food smoothie. You are making such great progress, it would be a shame to lose ground!

Way to go! Stay focused. The problem I've always had with any weight drop is that I then feel like I can ease up a bit, which causes me to gain it back. Oh man, home made baked goods are so hard for me to resist. Avoid! :-)

Good advice, thanks. I have a snack mix I made with almonds and pieces of dried mango, which I'll use to keep myself from indulging. I know that even with this drop I'm still really far from where I want to be, where I should be--so that keeps me focused.

Part of this whole process that is hard for me is learning how to resist gorging myself on treats that seem to be ever-present in my house. I can relate when you say our kids will be making more goodies. My son just learned to make fudge and is very enthusiastic about his new skill! Yesterday I was able lot keep myself to one small piece. Not easy, but not completely denying myself that little taste of heaven. With all the talk about lifestyle changes, it is important to me to find ways of dealing with sweets. I love them, but can't indulge how I once did.
If you find any tricks that work for you, please share! :)

Izzypup, I know, right? This process was much easier when the kids were small and I could more easily control what was in the house.

I can just imagine walking into your kitchen to the smell of home baked goodies. Herb tea helps me push through, but sometimes it all comes down to "How bad do we want it".

The treats are hard to resist! My husband is a Type 1 diabetic, so he always has to keep sweets in the house. I've tried convincing him to use glucose tablets instead of cookies, but he says that they taste terrible... which is kinda the point, from where I'm standing.

Thanks all. I did not eat any cupcake. Actually, posting it here made me sure that I wouldn't eat any! The kids enjoyed them and will take the leftovers to their friends tomorrow. So, success!
