I was almost afraid to weigh in, because I was not sure that I would lose as my carb intake is still rather high. I am so glad to see a small downward trend: 3 down- 67 to go!

I woke late so I skipped breakfast in order to get to work on time. I got angry just as I was about to have lunch and completely lost my appetite, so I tossed my hummus and salad into the trash after a couple of bites. I rushed home to shower and change, grabbed a quick meal of beans and salad, and rushed back out to chair a PTA meeting. the meeting lasted two hours but the after-meeting chats lasted another hour or so. Gave in to hunger pangs and had a tiny sandwich made with whole wheat bread and cheese spread. Went a couple of miles out of my way to give a parent a lift home. He is a single father, sole care-giver of an 8-year-old who had been patiently waiting in a nearby classroom while the meeting was in session. Finally got home to meet my husband and kids asleep in the TV room with the remnants of their popcorn feast scattered on the floor. Got the kids (and hubby :) ) to bed. I am now trying to let go of the day's stresses while munching on some walnuts and pecans. The good part is that I had less than 800 calories today.

I am sooooo missing my fruits! I am supposed to be on a low-carb, moderate-protein, high-fat plan. Just about every fruit that I like is classified as high-carb. I live in the tropics, so I am surrounded by beautiful bananas, magnificent mangoes, wonderful watermelons, and so many other fantastic and fragrant fruits. I still have a couple each day, but that, along with my love for beans, is wreaking havoc with my carb figures.

Today was my son's birthday. He turned 6. We held a small party with all the lovely stuff that that I usually cannot resist. However, I was able to limit myself to a tiny sliver of cake. I planned to miss dinner to compensate, only to realize that I am still way under my recommended daily intake. Yay!
I have to figure out how to get in some more calories, preferably loaded with micronutrients, as I have been consistently under the 1800 calories per day that is recommended (normally I get around 1400). The nuts, protein shakes and salads have been so filling that I really do not feel as though I have room for more.
