Last time I wrote a journal entry, I mentioned that I'd made an appointment with a registered dietitian. In some ways, I feel like I wasted my money, but in others I did find our meeting helpful. What was probably the most helpful, to be honest, was realizing while filling out the extensive questionnaire prior to our meeting, where some of my main problems lie.
Although I can no longer blame my past for my current behavior, I sure can see how it influenced who I am now and how I behave. I developed bad habits early on and never really had a lot of structure or stability in my life. Structure and a more regular routine is something I could greatly benefit from. That and getting better organized and ridding myself of what isn't working (both things I have and things I do).
The dietitian did talk with me about how many calories she thought I could slowly lose weight on while still getting all the nutrients my body needs to function properly. She emphasized the importance of eating breakfast every day and eating every few hours. I know these things but lack in application.
I guess the bottom line is the old saying, "If if is to be, it's up to me." I now have all the tools I need. Time to work on the structure/routine and the application. I have a lot of knowledge and a lot of resources, but they're useless if I don't make proper use of them!
In setting myself up for success, I realized that part of my problem is that some of my tools and small appliances are tucked away in places that are hard to access. I remembered a perfect-sized baker's rack I had seen at The Container Store that is the only thing that might work on my blank wall in the kitchen. It's on sale until 10/16, and I'm thinking I might order it. I will not only have a butcher block top I can use for extra counter space, but I'll have easy access to some of the appliances that will greatly aid me in healthy food prep. Hoping to sell some things I no longer need to help cover the cost of it. Out with what doesn't work, and in with what will!

Losing 1.1 kg a Week
23 September 2016
Have not been doing well lately, in many regards other than my weight. I'm tired of playing around.
After last night's TOPS meeting when we had a wonderful speaker, who is a Diabetes educator for the Greenville Health System, I realized even more that we are all individuals, with our own family histories, health issues, food sensitivities and more.
Because of this and because I'm tired of making excuses, trying different things and getting nowhere, I decided to invest in myself and made an appointment for next Wednesday afternoon with a Registered Dietician to come up with an individualized plan.
