Some good news! I was at the my massage therapists office last Thursday. Since I had no issues, and this was just a maintenance visit, I was looking forward to a relaxing massage. After the first 5 minute pleasantries were out of the way, I mentioned, "wouldn't it be nice if my knee problems could go away as easily as you made my neck and back problems go away".. She questioned me a bit more about it, and the next thing I knew, she was working at the tendons and muscles around my knees! So, I am in health care.. RN for 40 years, in the ER department... I know a bit about anatomy.. like muscle turns into tendon just before it attaches to the bones... so why in the sam hill did I not even think about this? Her theory is... as my minor arthritis, ( confirmed by X-ray ) began, the muscle surrounding my patella, sought to limit its movement to prevent it grinding and getting more inflamed, by tightening up... this only caused more pain as I refused to stop moving as it wanted me to do. She massaged the medial aspect of both my knees for about 45 minutes..... and left me with a bruised feeling ( as I always have when she is done with me!! ) but very minimal pain !! That was last Thursday, and I have not taken any anti inflammatories since! I do ice my knees at night, at her suggestion, but thats it!! I have another appointment in two weeks.
I can't wait to get back to my walking! Going to go for a short walk this afternoon with my friend!

I've been doing some reading, and talking to other people who have tried this 5 - 2 diet... not sure its exactly for me... thing is, in order to give it a fair shot.. I would need to do it for at least a month, maybe more.. and I am not sure I can commit to that, at least right now. Tomorrow, I am going to try to do one of the fast days.. if I find this too much.. I might just wait a bit longer before giving it a go. If I find that it was no problem.. I might just go ahead and use that as my start day. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'm guessing having popcorn for supper last night, was not a brilliant idea. My blood sugar was up to 7.2 this am. ( should be 6.4 ) I ate popcorn, because it was Wednesday.. hubby golfs every Wednesday afternoon and evening, "men's night" at his golf club, so I have the afternoon and evening free. I didn't feel like cooking, and had recently purged the refrigerator of leftovers. My options were to either order in.. or popcorn. I won't be making this mistake again.
I am intrigued about this 5 . 2 diet that is really big in the UK. I lived in Scotland for many years, going to university there, so have several friends.. I asked them about it.. a few had done it and they all had good things to say. Two of them are still doing it. Not because they still need to lose weight, but because its become their way of life and it means no counting, measuring , etc, for most of the week. I could do this.. using Wednesdays and Saturdays ( another golf day ) as my "2" days, and eat normally on the other days of the week. I also noted that another person on here, who appears on my news feed every once in a while, is also doing it and he seems to be pleased with his progress so far. A little more research is needed.
