I had Lap-Band Surgery on April 8, 2007: I was about 305 lbs 2 weeks before my surgery, down 30 lbs from my peak about 2 years earlier. I lost about 50 lbs initially, but I ended up with lots of issues with vomiting after eating, even without any fill. By January 2011 I was back up to 297 lbs.
I had an RNY Gastric Bypass conversion on March 2, 2011: This has worked much better for me. The fat and sugar intolerance really help me stay on track. I am down by almost 70 lbs since my surgery.
I do still have lots of work to do: I am not exercising as regularly as I should be, and I need to put more variety in my diet. But otherwise, I am keeping up with my diet and support group meetings.
