For those who love their peanut butter....Studies Show Peanuts May be Hazardous to Your Health.

Aflatoxins.
One of the most concerning toxins associated with peanuts is a mold that produces aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is a known carcinogen associated with liver cancer.

This is true even for organic peanuts or peanut butter, as it is the nature of the peanut itself and doesn’t have to do with pesticides or herbicides.

Lectins.
Peanuts, along with other legumes like soy, contain anti-nutrients known as lectins. Lectins are sticky proteins found in many foods including legumes. They serve as a primitive pest-resisting strategy in the plant. Lectins have been indicated in a number of inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis.

They also bind to sugars in cells in the human body, leading to an immune response and inflammation. They may also wreak havoc on weight management, because lectins have been shown to mimic insulin behaviors in the human body.

High omega-6 fatty acids.
While the lectins are one aspect of peanuts that may be pro-inflammatory, so is the high level of omega-6 fatty acids they contain.

Salmonella.
Peanuts are susceptible to salmonella contamination, such as peanut butter recalls from Trader Joe's grocery stores. Automobile manufacturers aren't the only ones that recall things. lol

The pain isn't worth the journey to death. There are better ways to die.

I'm just gonna leave this here, and not just because I prefer to give credit to the source. http://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/substances/aflatoxins Here's another and before I get attacked, please don't tell me about the FDA. I have worked both for and against the FDA as a contractor, and I know first hand just how things are done; this does not, however, mean that every single thing coming from the FDA is suspect. Then again I don't have to tell y'all that because we're all smarter than that ... right? :) http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/568443/fda-warns-public-on-peanuts-bearing-cancer-causing-fungus

Unless I'm mistaken, the article above referencing the FDA is the Phillipine FDA, not the US. Hard to know if there is a difference in standard between the two.

The alternative is almond butter, but I've never had almond butter. Pretty sure I'd dislike it too (and almond butter doesn't even look right in the jars, IMHO of course). I used to eat cashews all the time too.

Although I'm Asian and grew up eating soy everything, I no longer eat soy or soy sauce. Modern soy sauce contains added ingredients including wheat, which surprised me when I read the ingredients.

The way vegans eat beans or nuts without having to deal with which is the most efficient way to get rid of 95% of the anti-nutrients, phytic acid, or lectins is to sprout them. The only sprouted beans I've ever eaten were sprouted mung beans, which is regularly eaten in the Asian culture and it tastes pretty good and refreshing. I've never had sprouted peanuts or any other sprouted seeds though, but I've decided permanently exclude all unsprouted nuts, legumes, and beans out of my diet for good.

Sprouted beans, nuts, and legumes. Instead of eating the egg, you're eating the chicken fetus. Lol, I know, bad analogy.
