I went running again today-- 27 minutes (the last 5 were walking to cool down) and just over 2 miles. Not super fast, but a good consistent pace for me. It felt good, which I think is a great sign. That's 2 days in a row now. I'm determined to make progress and get past this plateau!

Way to go, Herbie! My last jog would be measured in yards, not minutes lol, but it was more than I could have done the previous week and it felt good. Persistence pays off.

That is great! You might try on some days doing a series of small sprints interspersed with longer periods of walking and recovering. Basically, get up and running as fast as you want to go, and then coast back down to a walk, and then slowly walk back to where you started. (run and coast down mainly running on your front of your feet, not heels). Anyways, intervals are allegedly really good for elevating heart rate and keeping it elevated after you slow down, so more cardio benefit with less wear and tear on you body. Also-- it helps with the whole soccer prep thing too.

congratulations on the run. I am really enjoying my running. I started August of last year and could not jog a mile. I am now using a smartphone based training app preparing for a 10k. It makes me feel great, glad you are enjoying. Tonight is my 4 mile workout - I honestly can't wait after the day I have had.
