What to say? When I try to eat better I put on weight so next week I've decided I'm going to pig out and eat whatever I want, no point in denying myself the things I want to eat when avoiding it makes zero difference.

Maybe that's the point though. Even eating healthy foods will cause you to put on weight if you're eating larger portions than you need. Don't deny yourself the things you love, just eat them in smaller quantities or less often. You'll get there 👍

I've been eating healthier and smaller portions which makes it even more frustrating.

Ouch 😖 I guess it does. Could it be water retention? Have you been eating salty stuff? Just throwing ideas into the hat here. It may or may not be helpful, sorry if it isnt

I have been craving salt quite a lot recently and have had quite a bit. I think I'm just one of those people who can't seem to lose weight by what they eat and has to exercise, problem with that is my dodgy knees. I did Insanity a while back and even though it gave me a massive appetite and I ate a lot more I lost 3 or 4 lbs each week I did it. I think I need to build my leg strength back up and try that again.

Dodgy knees - I hear you on that one! 10 month old Newfie ran into my legs from the side and damaged my knees about 12 years back. I get the occasional wobble that stops me walking apart from an uncomfortable shuffle now and again. Time on a rowing machine helped me - not much lateral movement possible. All the best!

Don't give up LG! Advice from Phooks excellent especially the salt business - I love the stuff but have to be careful of the water retention and cankles. I have knee probs too after too many years road running down hills. You could try swimming as it is fantastic all-round exercise but very low impact, or cycling which is the same but with clothes on!

I'm one of those weird kids who never learned to cycle and I'm a terrible swimmer, there's no hope for me! :p I'm probably going to find some leg exercises to strengthen everything around the knees until I can do something a bit more strenuous, I just need to get through Christmas Chaos first!

Google NHS knee exercises. Some good suggestions there needing no equipment. My rowing machine was about £90 from Argos and we both use it intermittently so it wasn't wasted money. I've since bought a treadmill as I wasn't getting the steps in with shorter days. I can walk comfortably for an hour at a "slightly sweaty" rate while watching catch-up TV which is better than sitting on my arse drinking wine watching it. Christmas Chaos sounds so right! I'm spotting so many recipes I want to cook and eat I'll be back to the size of a house-end by the start of 2017!! All the best!
