I am slowly working my self into a new way of eating. Giving up on sugary foods not too hard. My present battle is to almost eliminate carbs, particularly wheat. That is a far bigger challenge than reducing my total calories. It is a long hard road, but I'm gonna get there.

You will get there. You know to be diligent and patient. Those two side by side, will deliver you.

Thanks for the encouragement, my friend with the new name. I have been gradually working through a number of changes. Many of my eating options are limited by what is locally available at an affordable price, so my protein/carb/fat ratios continue to be off kilter. However, I have significantly reduced my overall food intake and faithfully record what I eat. So far I have been able to keep under my RDI of calories. I will continue like that for a while and see what happens. It took more than 35 years of unhealthy eating for me to get to this stage, and I figure that if I practice 35 months of better choices I will get close to my ideal weight.

I agree it seems harder to give up flour than to give up sugar. When I stock up on coconut flour, it should be easier. Tonight I am going to eat my spaghetti sauce on cauliflower instead of noodles.

Most of us have been eating poorly our entire lives and are just now figuring out what we need to do. Always, better late than never. :)
