My weight is steadily going up and my health is steadily going down. I am having shortness of breath on exertion and my physical last week showed the need for more tests. I must quit smoking! I have started Chantix and my quit date is March 22nd as that date is the day I must go to the hospital for some more tests and I am not allowed to smoke for at least 8 hours prior. I know I must return to my low carb way of eating or I will balloon with weight from replacing smoking with eating carb laden crap! So today begins LCHF and keeping track of what I am eating again. The doctor okayed vaping instead of smoking and I am trying to make the switch. I got a new book/cookbook about eating clean and will start reading that and just pre-ordered the book Carbage and got the download already. Can't wait to get the actual book! I have had a lot of false starts recently, but I am setting my mind to it TODAY!

Chantix will work. Just follow the directions and hang in there. I have two friends who had both smoked for 40+ years, one of them over a pack and a half a day and they both quit using Chantix.

So, how's it going? Don't forget, if you misstep, forgive yourself and get right back at it again. You didn't get here in one day.

Well I am already over my carb count for today, but way under on the calories. The Chantix, you are supposed to pick a quit date and you can smoke until then. I am not even on the full dosage yet. It has to build up in your system. My quit date is March 22, but I hope I stop before then.

I quit with chantix.....smoke free for 1.5 years! It was still hard- I felt terrible. Sick, like the flu....but it will pass. You can do it. One thing at a time. Tackle smoking, then move forward.
