fastestskier's Journal, 14 Jul 18

Actual Scale reading has been bouncing between 223 and 226 for four weeks now, but I'm fairly confident that I'm carrying a lot of excess water weight.

I dropped my last reported weight by 0.1lbs just so I could add a weight entry.
100.4 kg Lost so far: 9.4 kg.    Still to go: 14.2 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

It’s doing that to me too. I’ve dropped but now up again slightly!

Do you guys recommend those ‘smart scales’?

I have an older scale that measures body composition and displays a body fat %; but from day to day the body fat number jumps around as it is sensitive to water weight. Over a few months I think the change in number is a solid indicator of what's going on. Especially if you average the reading over a few days; but it's not something I would put a lot of emphasis on.

Agreed. Weight water seems to send all values fluctuating on a day-to-day basis. Thanks.

What I do at times like this; is I try to keep in mind what the max number is that I've seen recently and I try to compare it to what I was seeing a week earlier. I am still seeing a downward trend even in those higher numbers so I know my current efforts are working.

True fastestskier as even though I went up again I am down overall 2.2 pounds. I’m not where I should be as on average I’m behind about 2 pounds with that 9 days of no movement but sometimes I wonder if it’s the scale too?

Today I saw 221.5 which I think is 3lbs above my actual. My legs have been slightly 'burning' all day from yesterdays' excercise. I feel stronger, so I'm just going to keep plugging away. Personally, my target of 190 is a bit arbitrary. What I am really after is a body fat percentage <20%. When I get closer to my goal weight, I'll look into getting a body fat assessment done, and then I'll go from there.

Today I weighed in at 225. I went golfing yesterday and my whole body was sore when I woke up this morning. I've also been eating more carbs and sodium than usual. I did some more reading on water retention and I saw someone mentione that some people can retain upwards of 10lbs of water and that retention relating to muscle repair can last as long as you remain active. I'm planning on increasing my excercise so I might be stuck at this weight for a while. I'm still averaging a daily deficit of 1500 calories.
