My friends have lost 13 lbs this week. We're eating the same but I have to remember my job is more sedentary, and I'm shorter and smaller framed. I have to remember to celebrate MY achievements!

So I didn't get to test out my party food theory. I got about half way to the party (which took me 1-1/2 hrs in traffic), and the car started to overheat. So I had to sit for awhile and drive back once the car cooled down in 100degree weather with the heater on. In traffic. In a stick shift. That should be listed as separate exercise category!
I had eaten a Fiber One bar on the road but by the time I got back home I was hungry, and frustrated. I hadn't had a good day already but I wasn't going to let that be an excuse to just blow it. So I ate a plum, picked up a bit, made lunch and sat down with a movie. I just relaxed...alone. I don't have much alone time - or any really. I don't really like to be alone but I was fine just relaxing. I made an awesome dinner for myself and enjoyed every bite! My friends came home later that night, we hung out and had a few drinks to unwind.
I made it through the day.

I'm on day 5 now, and all is going pretty well. I've had to train my brain into a different thinking. We have a fruit bowl on the table and many times while I'm sitting there, doing nothing or just chatting, I find myself mindlessly reaching for the food. When I prepare meals (which isn't very often because I have a wonderful person who cooks yummy food for me!), I find myself wanting to throw the last morsel of whatever I'm chopping into my mouth. Even though the fruit isn't bad for you, and better than reaching for chips or cookies, it's still the fact that I'm eating without even thinking about whether I'm hungry. It's just there.
I'm going to a party in a couple hours, and I'm struggling with what to do:
1) Eat before I go. This way I won't necessarily be hungry, but as I've said before, that's still a struggle for me. I'm going to want to eat anyway, and do I want to spend the entire party thinking about not eating.
2) Don't eat before I go, to leave room to eat what's there and then be choosy.
I think I'm going with number 2. I think about food way too much, and if I try to deprive myself and say I'm not going to eat, I don't think I'm going to enjoy myself. Plus, I had a very YUMMY breakfast pita and just finished my first workout, and I can honestly say I'm not hungry. It's a long drive and I still have to get ready, so I think I'll pack a Fiber One bar and some water for the road so I'm not starving.
I'll let you know how it goes :-)

I'm having a hard time not thinking about when to eat next. I ate breakfast (oatmeal that took me an hour to eat while working) and a cup of coffee. I was done with Breakfast at 10:00, and by noon I was starving. I want to try and eat a later lunch because I know the afternoons are difficult for me - that's when I get the hungriest. So I ate yogurt about an hour ago, and I want to eat again. I've been looking at the clock all morning to make sure it's been long enough to justify when to eat again. I'm not eating alot, but I have to get out of that mindset. Determining whether I'm really hungry or if it's just in my head is the hard part. I heard it's the 3 day hump - if I can make it today I'm on the right path.
