Well, I ran into a hiccup that started with a piece of cake given to my family members for a friend's birthday. As the cake tried sliding off the seat and onto the floor I managed to get frosting all over my seat and my hand. I did save the cake but I put a serious stall on my weight loss. Yes, I licked the frosting off my hand to keep it from getting all over the car! At least that's how I remember it in my mind! ☺. That started a week of struggles with sugar. My nemesis. I finally realized what a ridiculous buffoon I was being and decided to intentionally stall for a bit.....otherwise known as maintenance. I have spent my life losing and gaining various amounts of weight with great success.....especially the gaining part. For the first time in my life I have managed to maintain my current weight by following this way of eating for more than a month. I did NOT make my goal of 250 by my birthday BUT I did enjoy my birthday cake (low carb and sugar free) and I did not have an issue passing on the French fries. My protein intake has been high which was the plan to help keep my weight in check so that worked.

It's time to get back to the long term goal. I've lost 70 pounds so far and I'm planning the next 70 pounds ...... 5 pounds at a time. That is how this plan works for me. Little steps - 5 pound goals. The bigger number just looks too impossible! Little steps. Every day choices.

I lowered my protein, carb and fat targets so I can see the progress. So I have a visual - that should help. My blood sugars have been consistently good but a little high for my liking so I'll be watching those very closely again. My fingers will not be thrilled but the rest of me will be happy.

My scenic detour was a wonderful opportunity to practice maintenance but it's now time to get back to the highway!
