Growing up, the skinniest and fittest I had been was when we didn't have a car and we had to walk everywhere. This was back in the 80s. Going into my teenage years I started to chunk up slowly. The highest I ever got in my life was 174 after I had my first child. I then started Weight Watchers and it marked the beginning of a healthier relationship with food. I lost most of my weight down to the 130s. Over the past 10 years I have maintained that but I never really reached my personal goal of 115 for my 5'0" body. Now I resolve to reach my personal goal.
I believe that in order to make this permanent I have to create some lifestyle changes, I have to learn healthier habits with food and find a physical activity that I will enjoy enough to maintain over my lifetime. I realize that my body needs physical activity as much as it needs healthy food to function. The best that I can do for my overall well-being is to give it the exercise and right amounts of food it needs.
I'm also from a Caribbean background (Puerto Rico) so I love my rice, beans, empanadillas, sancocho and my Sofrito(the magical homemade seasoning that makes all food taste like a million bucks!). On my journey I don't limit any foods. I eat all my favorite foods and still lose weight. You will notice "rice" almost every day in my journal! :) The key my friends, will be and always has been ....PORTIONS! ;)
I'm here to make this happen and to share with others my experiences in this journey.
I gladly accept buddies so that we can all support each other.
7/2011: I'm 12 weeks pregnant at the moment so I'm really not trying to lose weight right now. I still want to keep track of my foods. Now that I'm feeling better from the morning sickness and all.
