So I bought some bananas at the store yeasterday and I thought they would be a good snack. I just ate one and I didn't realize how many carbs were in it. I was doing so good on my carbs today until 2 mins ago 😔 oh well. Are good carbs ok? Keto says fresh fruits are ok and that's what it was.

For Keto, once you’re fat adapted, only certain fruits in moderation (occasionally) are ok. Blackberries, strawberries, raspberries I believe. Bananas are very high in carbs..as a diabetic and Keto follower I steer clear lol. I’ve made a lot of mistakes on this journey, but we learn and keep walking along our path. Google Keto fruits and see what all you can find out. Knowledge is always a good thing to arm yourself with.

@trying2improve. There are some great Keto groups on Facebook. Most have approved food lists and are quite knowledgeable about the subject. Best of luck to you. 😊

I’ve been told to stick to dark berries (blueberries, blackberries, black and/or red raspberries, and strawberries in moderation) to minimize the carbs from the fruit that we **must** eat every day. Not as sweet as other fruits, but low carbs, and high in Anthrocyanins — what makes the fruit a deep purple, blue, or red color. It’s just like greens — dark romaine is much healthier for you than (ugh) iceberg. Also good are SMALL apples, or a half apple per meal. Melons, pineapple, kiwi, oranges are all high in sugar, and can be kept as a special dessert treat now and then. If you are dying for banana flavor, don’t eat one where the skin is all black or turning black — those have extremely high sugar content (they also taste the best!). You should eat a banana that is all yellow and firm, or even a little green st the top —not as sweet, but lots less sugar. Diabetics are advised to eat only a HALF a banana per day.

Oh,also, a bit of trivia: To slow or stop diarrhea, nurses always tell you to go on the BRAT diet — bananas, white rice, apples, and tea. Somewhere, I read that when this diet was established, in Victorian Times, the advice was to eat a GREEN or mostly green banana. It tasted awful - your mouth gets all puckered up, as if something is sucking up your saliva. And that is exactly what green banana (not plantain, but a banana that hasn’t ripened yet) does in your digestive system. It dries it up a bit. Nowadays, doctors and nurses leave out the “not ripe but green) part in the BRAST diet — so it doesn’t work very well! Nowadays,

If you're going to take in carbs that's the way to go,it's healthy burns off easy plus you get 1g of protein.I have a banana and large slice of cantaloupe every morning for the same reason.you'll get energy, protein, healthy carbs..you get more for your buck, where as alot of other fruits you get hardly nothing to zero protein.I hope this info was helpful.
