Mache is easy to grow. It likes cold, wintry weather. You can grow it now in a cold frame in many locations. I grow it in my greenhouse at school; it's a winter crop.

I'm going to try to grow some. Where do you live Erikahollister? I am in northern Idaho, still under snow.

Massachusetts. I'm a Horticulture teacher and my classroom is a heated greenhouse, so not the usual circumstances. We have a thriving salad garden in there right now. Pretty awesome!

I tried growing it again and again, it did not work out. Well, I don't have a greenhouse :-) I found one store that carries it every now and then with a horrendous price.

It likes cool damp conditions, so try growing it in the spring or fall, like spinach. It won't grow in the heat of summer.
