He refuses to have help, of any kind, from the Social Work department. That is what led to him and his sister falling out.

That must be so frustrating for you, knowing there may be help available other than from you but he won't accept it. I know we're trying to be helpful but you're probably reading our comments and thinking "tried that, tried that, nope, won't work" Big hugs, Jocko - it doesn't sound like it's going to get easier any time soon

Jocko, you're stuck between a rock and a hard place, no doubt about it. I presume, from the details you give, the doctors will sort the problem out, even if it's by surgery. She must be in a lot of pain. Best wishes to all of you and a big cyber hug for you.

Just got word. She is sitting up, eating and drinking, no pain and blood sugars back to normal. I am taking Christopher to visit this evening, so we may find out what they are going to do, long term.

What a relief! Sounds as if she will be released soon.

Glad to hear she's better than she was. Something needs doing from the point of view of long-term planning though. No one is going to be around for ever (not wishing anyone ill, of course!) and planning for the future, putting things in place early is the only option. Best of luck, Jocko and tighten your seatbelt. It's going to be a rough ride

I hope that everything stays stable, this is the worst time of year for health issues, isn't it - How awful for the family of your work colleague too! Best Wishes, and I hope that there's time in there for the usual seasonal joys for you all.

Thursday they have her scheduled for the Endoscopy clinic where they will go in and grab the gallstones. Cannot see her being home for Christmas but she may be out for the New Year.

Hope all goes well. Phooka's right, though, it would be good to start thinking about long-term options. Christopher will have to change his way of thinking eventually.

He's a 42 year old male who is stubborn and has his mind made up. He can make his own arrangements when the time comes. I may be long gone by then.

wow, a lot of heaviness issues to deal with! Sorry for your loss at work. And glad that your ex is getting the care she needs. On your weight gain: when you go off LCHF, you gain a lot of water weight as your muscles recharge with glycogen. When you go back on plan, you will lose that again. I hope you all have some good news and peace for Christmas!

Thanks, Erika. I don't actually do LCHF. I just try and keep my Carbs around about 30%. I tried Atkins many years ago, but it played havoc with my morning routine, if you get my drift.

Good point, Erika. I'd forgotten that. How are things today, Jocko? Did your ex have her op?
