National Doughnut Day, or National Donut Day

Is celebrated in the United States, and is on the first Friday of June each year, succeeding the Doughnut Day event created by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor those of their members who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.The holiday celebrates the doughnut (a.k.a. donut) – an edible, torus-shaped piece of dough which is deep-fried and sweetened. Many American doughnut stores offer free doughnuts on National Doughnut Day.

Support Your Salvation Army- They have supported many, and have done a lot for my wife's family over the years.

LOL Warren! It does make you feel ill when you have been completely away from sweeteners, real and artificial, the extreme sweetness of most of the foods out there are sickening. I think our taste-buds are very similar to our nose, if there is a smell that you get used to...go nose-dead, you don't smell it anymore or it's weak and you don't notice it anymore. Sugar eaten in the quantities that I used to consume it, barely made anything taste sweet, now that I have cut them out I assume my body has gone back to it's normal tolerance level and YUCK!

I have the same reaction to salt. I grew up on a very low sodium diet (my father had to watch his and my mother figured the same diet was good for all of us) and if something has a "normal" amount of salt in it, I simply cannot eat it.
