ShyGuy's Journal, 26 Apr 16

I did good today. It was lunch time, and as I walked in, I saw it. There, in the staff lounge; practically covering every inch, of the only table in the room, was an expansive array of baked goodies. There was an assortment of bakery fresh doughnuts, including my favorite, chocolate covered cake doughnuts, two full boxes of them, a pile of cinnamon danish, cinnamon rolls, and a platter full of assorted cookies, sandwich and otherwise. There were also a few bottles of fruit drinks. I had to move some of that stuff, out of the way, just so I could have room to eat my lunch, as there was no other place to sit and eat. I was good, with my grilled pork chop, steamed broccoli, and sugar free jello. I was tempted, but I resisted, ate my lunch, and got out of there before falling prey to a last moment of weakness. I can only hope others enjoyed themselves, because even though those goodies were at arm's length, I was able to walk away. It's Teacher Appreciation Week, and there will be other treats to avoid, but I'll do it; too bad they didn't have a roaster full of baked chicken, bacon, or BBQ ribs, with the sauce on the side; that I would have eaten. :-)

congrats on avoiding sweets, that would be hard while sharing the table.

Thanks all. It wasn't easy, but I'm glad I was able to resist.

I see people post about treats at work a lot, I don't know where you folks work, but that usually only happened at the company Christmas Party back when I was still wage slaving for the man. Good job resisting temptation, maybe whoever is in charge of the treats needs a nice friendly reminder that not everyone wants to strap on the feed bag, so to speak. Still marveling at how many people make similar posts. lol Again, great job.

like an alcoholic going to a bar.... I'm sure it was very, very hard. It is for all of us, when we are faced with such temptation. Congratulations - keep your eye on the prize.

In this case it was students setting the whole thing up; I don't know who purchased the goodies, but students were the ones laying it all out for us. Incidentally, keeping my eyes on the prize, is exactly what I was doing.

I never was successful to avoid the doughnuts at work. If I walked away, I wouldn't be able to focus on my work knowing they were in the kitchen. 🍩🍩🍩 I salute your fortitude. Good for you.🏅🏅

While reading the beginning of your post I thought very soon you were going to say, "and then I woke up, thank God." LOL Be proud!
