I, today, am going off track here. I hope this may help someone. You ever see ads, how to beat the banks? Let's say you are married with equal incomes, and equal bills. You get a 30 yr. loan, and rack up lots of bills. Interest rates collapse. You decide to refinance, and payoff all bills. But you see, that if you get a 15 yr loan, you can pay your house in half the time, and pay bills too. You are also worried about taxes. You get that loan at 3 1/2% interest, and pay bills, but you learn, that if you make bi-weekly payments, you can pay the house in 8 years at 1% interest, and this is what ads call, "cheating the banks". At the same time, your spouse defers income by setting up a retirement tax shelter. Sheltering from taxes a good part of her income. You now, have more mortgage interest writeoff, and a tax shelter for retirement. She even donates to many charities. But the negative is, most months, you have two house payments, and Jan. and July you have three. This forces you to adjust, the lack of bills, to make almost 100% of your income to save for those two months, but you are sheltering from Uncle Sam, and the banks. Food for thought? I would say most states. But part of it was my mistake. I should have been more proactive. I could still qualify if I went to work.

Sweet Georgia, I don't blame you for being upset. If I was in your situation, I'd be upset too. It is too bad. Even Obama knows the system needs work, and remember you are subject to your Georgia system. A republican state system doesn't support it. It would work better nationwide, if Republicans supported it, or went along with it, instead of fighting the system. It just makes it more expensive. Another problem is when unhealthy people join Obamacare, who have never had healthcare, it makes for more costs. the system needs more time.

I'm always surprised by how effective marketing is, I really shouldn't be, but it never ceases to impress me. I'm glad your beat-the-bank strategy is working!

It is funny, Phil, because you are exactly correct. the ad is a come on for some other thing really unrelated, but when I looked into it, a light went on. Companies are making good money running these payoff programs too. The best way is setting it up with your mortgage company.

Addie, I was active in the Union and they made me aware of this Medicare problem, but I ignored it. Really, my fault 100%. I'm not making excuses. It was a hugely, stupid mistake. I'm 13 quarters short. Three years and a quarter. lol

Medicare rules for government employees/teachers vary per your state. It is the state that makes the agreements regarding their participation in Medicare so you have to talk to your retirement board and Social Security to see if you qualify.

Warren- I've found stellar information by riffing off of other things, if my college education didn't teach me anything other than critical thinking I got my moneys worth, in spades!

They say he has totally lost it. And guess what he argues with himself about? HIS FOOD! Should I eat it, or should I not! He gets furious about it.

Phil, I taught critical thinking in school, a very important skill, but making educated decisions over emotional decisions, that is something very difficult to teach. We live with are choices in life, for better or worse. Just ask OJ. lol

Critical Thinking was the core mission at Angelina College, and they definitely had it right, I liked AC way better than when I transferred to University.
