Intermittent Fasting. My day is nothing but Coffee until 12pm, then lunch....around 3pm I eat what I brought to work for Breakfast.....then dinner around 7pm - 8pm, then nothing until 12pm the next day. Once you get used to it you find that a cup of coffee and water are all you need. So what does IF do for you? Most people think it is only about cutting calories, however, this is a naive point of view. IF is about giving your body time to clean up and repair through the process called "Autophagy". LCHF for most people will not only lower weight, but also lower blood sugar, however, it does this more quickly and more efficiently if you add in IF, as this allows your body to reverse the current condition of "Insulin Resistance". This should all happen quickly.....long before you lose a lot of weight, within 30 days you should have fasting Glucose under 100. You watch your medication carefully, as taking pills or insulin on schedule will leave you hypoglycemic, as you are artificially lowering glucose too much.

Starting to have cravings for the carbs/sugars, like he said I would, also headache, etc., but I will NOT bend! I AM STRONGER THAN FOOD! Have a great day y'all!

Great work! Mahjohn is a wealth of good information and since I've been following his examples my progress has been off the charts.

Low carb is very effective at lowering blood sugar. I have been prediabetic for years and wasn't feeling right so went to dr. and had them test me. My sugar was 107 almost 2 hours after eating (based on finger prick) and 15 mins later they did a blood sugar panel and it was 96. Still need to improve the A1C though.

What do you eat at noon if you eat breakfast at 3p? Or is the noon a snack? I've done fasting but by sleeping, never tried it awake unless I'm shopping in which case I forget to eat so I end up leaving at 10a and eating around 6p...makes sense though. If you keep busy enough you don't need to eat or drink for many hours.

I think Mahjohn was saying he is having lunch, then breakfast, then dinner, all within the 12 - 8 PM window.

@Kpw is correct.... Why that order?, For me breakfast at the moment is overnight oatmeal, while lunch is me protein and veggie based. As I've been fasting for 16hrs, the body is most sensitive to incoming carbohydrates at first meal with a much higher glucose response, so I have lunch first.... Then breakfast as a snack around 3hrs later, a much shorter window and lower insulin response after eating only a few hours earlier.

Mahjohn, so your lightest meal should be the meal before your fasting? Sorry if you have to repeat things, I'm still a newbie and learning! I too am fasting from dinner to lunch

Not necessarily, typically my lunch and dinner consist of the same types of food and quantities..... So I really have two "meals" lunch and dinner with a light mid afternoon snack in between.

Ok, makes sense. It also occurred to me when I thought about it that my grandparents used to eat a healthy breakfast (not like what we eat now), then a lighter lunch, and soup/sandwich for dinner. May have to juggle and see what brings my initial bs down in the morning. Its been good mid-morning through dinner but was 151 this morning.

If your blood sugar is still high after a good 21 days of low carton of less than 30gms Net, and Protein has not been excessive.... Then you have Insulin Resistance. Remember, insulin removes the blood glucose and stores it in cells, however, if your cells are resistant to insulin after years of being pounded with insulin, the most effective way to reverse that is one of the most hotly debated topics around. Current thought I agree with is Dr. Jason Fung, where you incorporate 16:8 Intermittent Fasting to give your cells the time they need to repair..... Essentially they need a break, they can't repair while still putting out fires.
