redgirl1974's Journal, 18 Feb 16

I goofed yesterday ... i was off so I went out with my mom to bingo and I had a taco salad that had nacho cheese and I ate some of the chips and that triggered the midnight monster who woke me up and I ate some peanut butter crackers. I logged it thou bc Im done lying to myself and not logging it is starting to make me feel that way. I will log every single thing.. that way when I dont like what I see I can correct the behavior. Sadly Im weak right now due to the holidays and the back issue. I wrote down my goal of losing 30 lbs in 2016 in my exercise log and there's a part that says why and how.. and my how was " by dedicating myself to my goals and sticking to my plan". I noticed when I dont follow my "schedule" like last night, my eating gets outta wack. I just need to stick to it one day at a time. BUT, today is a new day. Started out right.. now to finish off strong!

That's the saving grace of our trips, we get to see patterns that we wouldn't otherwise. Emotions, routines, stress all affect me too. If I can see it coming sometimes I can deflect or make adjustments instead of getting blindsided. Hate that. :P

I find documenting a cheat day helps me learn from it. I work too hard everyday to keep my cals low to blow it unless it's something really worthwhile. I bite or 2 of an indulgence is enough now to keep me satisfied. I request tiny desert portions and have small servings when out or over at friends now. I have realized to keep my weight loss I have to eat like a 1200 cal/day person FOR EVER.

Hey Red, it sounds like you've got it figured out; when I slip up I log it, own it, then do something to balance it out. Also, for me a little planning can offset high calorie/carb food days/weeks. We were on vacation in January with another couple, ate very well, great wine, etc..even chips, ice cream (my kryptonite) and other junk food. I worked my butt off just to stay level for the two weeks, also when I knew a big social meal was coming I'd keep the calories and carbs low that day and/or the next...without those measures I would have easily gained 10 bad lbs. We're all different, but hope that helps!

Stay with it, girl. It is just being watchful. Why 30 more pounds? Your goal is 10 pounds...then build muscle and lower bodyfat...?

HCB, my immediate goal is 10 more lbs making me 150lbs and at a total of 100 lbs lost but Im still pretty thick in some areas and would like to eventually be a size smaller so 12/14 instead of 14/16 and for my height, 10lbs less is still considered obese, which sucks. I would honestly settle at 140lb making that 20 more LBS but I gotta set my goals high. I lost 89 lbs in 2015 so I figured I could squeeze in 30 more LOL bwahaha.. your thoughts ?

Your weight depends largely on your Height, Skeletal Frame size (Small, Medium, or Large), and Age, i.e., a larger frame will equate to a higher natural weight, and the older you get the more body fat you naturally store. Once you have your "ideal" weight for your height/frame/age, that weight + 0-10% is normal fluctuation...10 -20% is overweight.

Measure your wrist, wrap a tape measure around it, just above the bones on the elbow wise. Small <6", Medium 6" - 6.25", Large >6.25" (this is for a 5'2" to 5'5" woman). once you have that size....The ideal weight at 21 - 25 yrs of age is...117, 123, and 132 lbs. At 41, you have 3% more Body Fat than the 21 - 25 age group, so it graduates 120.5, 127, 136lbs.

so mine is 6 inches , so ideal weight is 120.5 ?

That is if you get down to right at 28% body fat, ideal for your age..... Now add 10% to that number for normal fluctuation asks if you get to around 132lbs you'd be good.

Having a cheat day every now and then is definitely in your best interest!! Indulging a little every now and then helps keep you from binging all at once! Remember no matter what: #YouAreBeautiful

lastly....the upper limit of being "overweight" but still have no health issues arise would be around 142 lbs. Having body fat is normal, have some extra as we age is normal....having excess fat to where it interferes with organ function is not normal....so you have a good 22lbs range to shoot for. Good Luck, oh and as @phllmcgee said....if you want to cheat, plan it...one afternoon and evening per week, or per month..whichever it is, plan and account for it, you'll keep losing weight regardless.

Fasting through breakfast and lunch generally, has really helped me. It makes dinner anytime from 5 pm to 8 pm very satisfying and pretty treasured.
