Just asking a question; as we get healthier do any of you find that it’s getting harder to burn higher amounts of calories when you workout. I’ve asked my physician about it Friday last week; and was told by her as we get more fit our bodies tend to slow down on the calorie loss. Over the last week; I’ve done the same amounts of walking and movement and burned far less calories than I was before getting ill 4 months ago?

Isn't the calories burned dependent on the weight you are? So the lighter you get, the less energy it takes to move, fewer calories burnt? I am looking forward to being lighter on my feet and less weight on my knees. Don't get discouraged when you have done so well.

@PattyAngl, it is what it is. Not being discouraged just didn’t know, and was asking about it.

All I get from my DOC is “eat less & exercise more!”. I am wearing a CGM now & having Fasting Insulin tested monthly. I’ve not lost one single pound but have decrease my fasting insulin(Severe Insulin Resistance) from 78.6 to 53.1 in 3 months. Obviously the Metabolic Syndrome has a lot to do with shedding pounds. Hang in there!!!

Yes, that's true. It's still effective. Your best nutrition out last it all.

Plateauing is definitely a thing. Eventually, you'll zero in on what works for you.

when you do the same activity and eat the same calories, your body adapts. Do you lift weights?

Short answer: yes. You're not alone. I've cut my caloric intake just to maintain. I am going to increase protein though.

It is true. I recently posted a couple links to articles on this subject. Especially if you are repeatedly doing the same workouts— your body becomes more efficient and uses fewer calories.

@RN16; I will start lifting again once I hit one hundred pounds lost; that’s one of my goals

It takes less energy to move because you are carrying less weight! I used a weighted vest on my walks and it has helped tremendously!

I understand the desire to reach a certain milestone on the scale, but you should consider doing some strength training while you are working on reducing your overall body weight. You want to maintain as much lean mass as possible because it helps with your overall metabolism and it's easier to keep the muscle than try to grow it again. No need to go super heavy, just a weight that's good for maintenence.

what Tampa Stacy said! you need to spend time lifting weights instead of doing extra cardio. more muscle, the more you burn and the healthier you are. At my highest I was eating for 2 of me, so I did have to adjust. hope that helps

@jenjabba, thank you for your comment. It’s not cost effective for me to go to a gym at this time; I do workout at home with the directions of my doctor. Was advised to drop another 4lbs then start back to lifting weights and adding more core exercises.
