When I get up in the mornings, I typically heat up some leftover coffee while I make a fresh pot. Then I sit down in front of my computer… and come here. I read, journal, post comments, etc… and then move on to check emails, FB, and the headline news etc.

Some days (because I am home w/ my Mom) I come back here frequently. Other days, not so much.

I am slowly coming to the realization that I am in need of some changes to my personal habits. I have the desire to set some new goals for myself… and these will include making some changes to my personal time. I am not the greatest ‘goal setter’… well, I should rephrase that… I can set great ‘goals’… but the follow thru w/ a plan and making myself reach them… not so great.

I want to join Curves again. I used to belong to Curves, oh about 7-8 yrs ago. And within a short 3-4 weeks started seeing good changes in my muscles, etc. By the end of 6 months I was in the BEST shape I had ever been in since High School. Well, now the Curves locations have a class incorporated w/ Zumba! And it sounds like an absolute blast!!!

Pretty consistently, I have been going to the gym for over 2 years now. 2 ½ actually. And I don’t look anything like I used to look after doing curves. I just can’t seem to reach the progress in lifting on my own, or the cardio element gets boring to me… then I end up wanting to just be active and do things outside of the gym… then I get frustrated and discouraged because the jiggly-wiggly thighs, and arms, and abs… just don’t look too hot even in a size 8.

SO – in order to make a commitment to go to Curves… I am going to try to get there every other day. Thought I would do this early in the AM, but with school starting back up in a month… I will have to change that. For right now that’s ok, but it won’t be for long. Then I thought if I could find a location close to the kid’s school, I could drop him, and then go to the Curves location – may keep that in mind…

But, I also have to consider my Mom, and not leaving her alone too long. No matter how I juggle it… I typically run out of DAY before I reach my goal. And once my husband is home, dinner is made, kitchen is cleaned up, Mom is given her med’s and in her pj’s etc., this is NOT the time I want to run out to try to catch the Curves class before they close! That’s why I always liked the gym… much better hours!!!

Anyway – Mornings are the preferred choice, except Wed Evenings Zumba Curves is 4:30-5:00. Will have to learn to make it work!

So, if something has to give… in order for me to try to incorporate this into my world, it will have to be my morning routine here at home. If you notice I am not around on the computer in the mornings… (and there are some of you that is the only time I get a chance to see your entries!!!) I apologize in advance. I’m not leaving the site or ditching anybody… just trying to see if I can squeeze one more thing into this crazy schedule I call a life!!!

AUGUST GOALS:

1. Lose 1 pound a week
2. Join Curves
3. Attend Curves classes 4 x’s / week (W/ Zumba 2 of the 4 visits)
4. Maintain Low Carb Way of Eating

Great plan Paula. I think it's wonderful you are making the time to take care of you for once. You do so much for everyone else (hubby, kids, mom, us here). You deserve to do for you. Except no excuses. You will do just fine. I know you will. Because you are you. Much love.

Hi Paula, you gotta do what's best for you and Curves is a great work-out and sounds like it worked for you. Thanks for the reassurance that you aren't leaving the site - you are one of the consistent people who are still around and I would hate to lose you. Good luck in your goal setting and carrying it through - I smiled that you run out of DAY - how true, with all the caretaking you do for mum and hubby and son (and hopefully yourself). Thanks for checking up on me, and for the advice. I will do what I can to up the intake without upping the carbs. I find that not easy to do at all but will look into ways to do so. Have a fab week-end if I don't make it on.

Paula - I know you will make this work. You need to do this for yourself and your family! Heard the Zumba was really good - bet you'll have no trouble losing a pound a week.
