regarding daily water intake

You have to drink a LOT to flush your electrolytes. Like that lady that died in Sacramento like 10 years ago after a water drinking contest. I think she made it to like 5 gallons and died the next day.
Recommended water intake is averaged to half of your body weight in ounces, 140oz for me. This I did go over in volume, because I also have to take into account that I live somewhere that it's 112+ degrees F which, naturally, means I'll need more water to stay hydrated.
10 glasses of 8oz of water is the minimum recommended water intake for a normal size person on the daily, based on weight/.5 ounces, you can also do calories ingested/.38 ounces.
Additionally, electrolyte water can be bought for the same price as normal water, tap water which has all kinds of added stuff - minerals, fluoride, and chlorine if you live in the city... :-/ I'm weary of brushing my teeth with the stuff personally, but what can we do? -sigh-
Add a little salt, or eat things.
I do think if you drink distilled water it would flush you out faster because it's lost all of it's natural properties and is literally just pointless liquid.
The best measurement of how much to drink is to watch your thirst. I'm always thirsty.
Based on online calculators with my weight, activity level, and climate, I'm actually drinking less than needed! I drink about a gallon whereas the recommendation is 5 litres or 171 ounces. So I'm a litre short pretty much.

Also, going to the toilet a lot is good for your bladder, specialists say the minimum should be 7-10x/day.
But I'm a mom so I'm always running to the toilet anyways. You'd think I'd be used to it by now. And that's when I don't drink anything, as soon as a faucet turns on I have to run to the bathroom for just a dribble. :D #momlife
