As an experiment, why not try having a really low fat day. If its Just for one day, even if it dosen't work then it won't matter. To do this you could have lean meat like chicken, turkey, haddock, prawns or crab. Or you could have scrambled egg white (save the yolk for another day). Eat _lots_ of fresh greens; asparagus, broccoli, spinach, cucumber, lettuce. Or just a kilo of mixed veg, 1/2 for lunch, 1/2 for dinner. Then just mix up some a small amount of salad dressing with vinegar and olive oil, just a tiny amount to get your good fats for the day. Aim for about 2000kcal, and hopefully you will feel full, and the next day your weight will be lower :)

what about a Fasting day? really kicks in the fat burning, say once or twice a week eat only an evening meal (obviously drink during day).

@Drullae, because you don't learn anything about what diet works for you if you fast. You just learn what it feels like if you don't eat anything. Frankly it sucks.

there are many diets built around intermittent fasting (IF), 16:8 and 5:2 just a couple of them. seem to be popular with a lot of people. my hubby has been doing IF for a few months now, he does a 24hr fast once a week, the idea obviously being in the absence of food going in every few hours the body turns to its fat stores for energy (just as it does over night) . it is supposed to be very good for shifting belly fat. it also seems to go very well with lchf diet. i also agree with you @Giles, trying a low fat day (maybe try a week or so) is a good idea. weightloss notoriously plateaus our bodies seem to get used to a way of eating and even with a calorie deficit the weight loss levels off. changing the diet every so often can kickstart things again. even sometimes just taking out or adding in a certain food can get things moving

I could be gaining because of various things. I'm trying to work my way through them.

Lol, excuse me for seeing the funny side of that comment. You are working your way through various thing like pork scratchings, cheese, sausages etc ;) In all seriousness though, good on you for experimenting and trying to find out what works or doesn't work.
