Did another CN last night, a rather foody one. I am unchanged. Looks like I'll have to stick with sweeties and sugars for CNs which is increasingly difficult as my taste for them is diminishing :-( I'm going to go for 250 grams protein daily, even if it means having a shake last thing.

Too much sugar, Too much Fat, and Too much protein.

Where on earth do you get too much sugar from? I listed my weight today as 327 but that was at 5am, later I was down to 324, which is more encouraging. I'll keep on for a while with the loads of protein approach.

You said it yourself "sweeties and sugars" for carb nite. Your daily weight fluctuations are most definitely just water. Drink water, you gain weight, pee/perspire, your weight goes down. Not trying to knock your spirits, I really want you to succeed. But I think you really need to stop eating so many sausages cut out saturated fats, and reduce your calories by a further 20% to lose some weight.

Carb Nite is once a week, rest of the week I'm ULC. At 5am I weighed myself after having a pee. I don't normally take notice of what I weigh at that hour as I haven't had my proper sleep yet and usually weigh rather less later after I've been back to bed and woken up again and had another pee. When I weighed myself later this time it was after a couple of coffees and three sausages. I went to bed early yesterday you see, so I'd had a good long sleep so I expected my weight to have stabilised. Not so, it seems.

I don't understand the point of Carb Nite. I will give the author the benefit of the doubt and say that perhaps it works for some people who follow that diet correctly. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you are following it correctly. However, I don't think that this diet is working for you. Maybe try this bodybuilders meal planner http://custommealplanner.com/

any excess protein, over that which your body uses for protein synthesis, will be oxidized for energy (cutting into the carbs and fats used for energy) or it will stored as fat. it is harder for the body to use protein as energy and store it as fat but it has to go somewhere if it is not used in protein synthesis by the body. upping your protein level may not be a good idea. i would lower your calories (the numbers given on here are just a guide and need to be tweaked for best results for you), cut out carb nite, lower the fat and up the carbs (100g). that way you will be still be getting enough carbs to work out for an hour a day without having to replenish glycogen stores once a week with a carbnite.

Yes, well said drullae. With comments like "lower the fat, and up the carbs", This is almost a complete turn around on your part concerning 'keto' style diets. Don't get me wrong I do think there is a place for those style diets. For example the bodybuilder 'scooby werkstatt' recently used keto in the final stage of his contest prep. However he is extremely lean already, and has highly strict/dedicated nutrition. I think that for the majority of people one can lose weight on more traditional nutrition. In my opinion things like this 'carb nite' fad diet are really just somebody trying to fool you out of money (sorry Billruse).

i just don't think its working for for Billruse, there are so many different ways to diet, cut cals and lose weight. low carb, keto, Fasting, low fat, Real food, meal replacements, it is worth trying something new if one way doesn't suit you. Billruse also mentioned in a previous post he had some success with "lower" carb not ultra low, maybe thats the way to go. once you find that happy balance that works for you its a great feeling, finding it though can be an absolute nightmare sometimes!!

@Drullae, I totally agree there are so many ways to diet. They range from sensible to just plain ridiculous. Some of them work, others are a complete waste of time (and money). I think its best to start out with just a traditional diet (ha how do you define traditional? ok I mean one your conventional doctor would recommend). I think that would work for most people, and that's what I did when I was on a diet a few years ago. This year I tried 'something new' by doing the fasting at the begining of the, which also worked for me, as is my current medium-low carb diet.
