tlg28's Journal, 22 Jul 21

I have stopped doing regular weigh ins because it was becoming problematic. I still weigh myself a few times a week but I’m trying not to stress as long as I keep within a “window” I have set for myself…113-119lbs. I recognize that my weight can fluctuate by this much even daily so recording daily weigh ins is no longer necessary for me to stay on track, and not recording so often seems better for my mental outlook. Earlier this week, I was up around 119 and now, without getting crazy with my diet, I’m around 116. A couple of weeks ago I flowed between 114 and 117. I’m okay here. I have made some changes that I really needed to make but I’m also not overly restrictive anymore. I know how to eat healthy AND how to enjoy a treat. I exercise as much as I wish to and I have achieved a leanness I’ve never had. I’m in better shape now than ever before as I approach 40. I’m pleased with what I have accomplished.

Thank you. I was becoming obsessive and overly controlling/restrictive for a while. Seeing how I could manipulate my intake to get a loss the next day was somewhat addictive. It was not healthy. I’m glad I (mostly) got that in check before it really spiralled out of control. This is better. :)

Just to illustrate my point…my first weigh in of the day was 116.2, which I logged here. A few hours lately I weighed again at 115.4. If I weighed again now I’m sure it would be around 117 or so. It’s so hard not to stress minor gains and not to obsess over minor losses…I think it’s best to look at the trends over time.
