Ok, I don't know how people who workout survive on ultra low calorie or ultra low carb (under 60g) diets. I wonder if that's why so many people on FatSecret.com fall off the wagon with diet or exercise and are always posting how they are "starting over, again."

I say this because, as you can see from my previous posts, I was out of town on Saturday, carb-up day, and basically missed it. I know that I ate poorly Saturday, had too much fat and carbs combined, but I'm certain I didn't hit the proper levels of carbs to replenish my stores for the week. I was trying to be a little careful.

The result is that yesterday and today, I have no energy. I needed a 5-hour Energy yesterday afternoon to keep from falling asleep at my desk, and I already feel the same way this morning. My abs workout was pitiful, though I did move up 5 lbs. on the first set of hanging leg raises.

I am sure that doing 10 minutes of HIIT cardio yesterday and today is a factor also. Cardio just sucks the life out of you.

I'll probably tweak today a little by eating keeping fat and protein the same, but going ahead and eating 100g of carbs today and see how things are going tomorrow.

Today is the official weekly weigh-in for the body fat % competition at work. That FitBit scale is such a piece of junk. 26.3% body fat, 9% off compared to calipers. It shows me almost in the range of my original weigh-in 2 1/2 months ago. All you have to do is look at my pictures to see the difference that this scale seems to miss. I'm convinced it can't tell the difference between fat and muscle. These things should be removed from the market under false advertising.

I certainly can't go ultra low carb. I like the OGWL portion of Atkins because it makes me carb conscious, and it makes me choose my carbs wisely which I do not do unless I'm deliberate. I am like you, if I go too low with the carbs, I feel terrible. I have a natural sweet tooth that must be kept in check.

I'm very low-carb and haven't had any problems with working out. Once I got adapted to it that is. The first couple (up to 4) weeks can be really hard for your system to get used to. After that, it is used to running on fats instead of carbs. So even if I feel hungry, I'm still going strong because there is plenty of fuel (fat) for my body to run on. Of course, that's just me. Everyone is different.

Hey DarleneW101, what is your carbs target and how long have you been consistently on the diet? Cheers.

I shoot for 25-35grams/day on carbs (so a pretty small %). I started in January 2012 and was on low-carb through April 2013. Then life happened and I dropped low-carb (couldn't even tell you why). I got back into it this February. The low-carb is mostly for blood sugar control but it does help with weight loss too.

JJisFit4AA, I know what you mean about a sweet tooth. I guess I used to eat something sweet pretty much every day. Rarely a candy bar, but there was always something and often at night, cookies or ice cream. Since I started this at the beginning of March, though, laying off of sweets has been no big deal. They are like a habit, if you can get away from them for a couple of weeks, you'll be ok. Cheers.
