I've also had 1000 day 1s. You may want to try something a bit extreme. I've been doing 400 calories per meal and have lost 125 in 8 mos. No surgery. On days that I slip up, I'm still way under my RDI of 2700. I've gotten used to it and am pressing into it. Assuming you're like me, if you can make a good start (say 20 lbs in a month), that can establish the momentum that motivates you to stay the course. Else, all the little false starts and set backs just build to a mountain of discouragement. Been there too many times. Read my journal.
