Time For a Change Mom's Journal, 21 Jan 14

As much as I did NOT want to, I recorded what I ate for lunch! YUCK. Why can I not eat good when I go out to eat? The problem is the restaurant we went to does not have good healthy options. The rest of the day gotta watch it> Oh yes but tonite I have a jewelry party I am the host for. AAAHHH

The best thing to do is try to look at a menu before you go so you know what to order. If you have a burger, get a side salad instead of ff. Many times, I get a box at the beginning of the meal and box up half of it. You automatically halve the calories. You can also order food cooked to your specifications. We get in the mindset of "well i'm going out to eat, so i can eat what i want." If you do that once every couple of months, that's fine, but if you go out to eat often, then it's good to learn new habits.

I try to plan ahead. I enter what I think I'll eat so for the rest of the day (or beforehand) I will cut calories so I don't go over, or at least too far over. Life happens, just cut a few calories out of the rest of the week to make that deficit. Don't beat yourself up over it though :) Are you providing the snacks for tonight? If so, put a big platter of fresh fruit out and you dig into that lol.

I am providing the snacks. And I am already talking myself through what I can eat. That is a great idea about asking for a box at the beginning of the meal. And instead of ordering the fries and telling myself I won't eat them all, order a salad. DUH, right?
