I really stuck to my RDCI (recommended daily caloric intake), which was 1300. This meant getting much smarter about how I “spent” those calories. Example: 4 triscuits are 100 calories, but I can easily make a huge salad for that same number or even less. I paid close attention to what left me hungry and then avoided those things or only indulged in them when I had the calories to spend. I also tried to maintain my macros as suggested by the program - not necessarily to the exact percentage point everyday (but I did try to be within a reasonable range daily), but certainly within a few points over the course of the week. Protein helps me feel full without weighing me down. I love carbs but they aren’t helpful in my weight loss, and I had to get a lot smarter about how to consume my carbs (carrots and beans are both high in carbs but fill and fuel me faster and longer than chips and bread). I also identified a food sensitivity that was hindering any previous weight loss attempts (gluten). I measure portions and log my intake, but I also have treats now and then.
