kellym5757's Journal, 09 Oct 13

I am finding it sooooo hard to stay away from the sugar and since I am the only one clean eating in my house and I have another adult who does not contribute and eats junk around me it is increasingly hard. I broke down and had a 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream last night and I feel terrible!!!

This website is great for encouraging us when we're doing the healthy living...on our own! My family looks at what I eat, but they still eat the junk. Don't beat yourself up over a bit of ice cream. Today focus on what you CAN DO and make better choices. YOU CAN DO IT!

My husband does the same thing! The best way to get others to change is to be their example. For my safety I planned the "escape routes"I'll take when I find I'm headed for "trouble".Read my journal to see if any ideas may work for you & if it sparks some of your own ideas, share them w/me :D You are NOT alone!

I understand it's the principle of the thing but 1/2 C is not bad. Don't beat yourself up over it. Log everything you ate and I'm sure you'll find you're right on target. Keep up the good work!

1/2 cup? No biggie. I personally believe that if we deprive ourselves of everything we love, we are setting ourselves up for failure. That's why logging works so well. It lets us know that its perfectly ok to have that treat because we have done well all day! (or not hee hee) I am a strict calorie guy. I try to keep a balance of course, but less in and more expended is the ticket for me.

Kelly,If you really feel bad after eating something & you have made an informed decision that YOU really shouldn't have eaten it,whether it be because of what it is,the amount of,time of day,or whatever...then maybe try getting the "other adult" the things they want but in a flavor that doesn't tempt you. That way you both are happy! They get to eat "junk around you" & you wont "find it increasingly hard, break down or feel terrible". That's my plan on my next grocery trip! Hope it helps. :)
