There were many more challenges and things we did five years ago on here. They help to keep one motivated. Not one of my friends from then is on here any longer. One woman is on monthly or so and she started many challenges that were successful. I noticed one on here for 'sassy sisters' - ummm hello, 20% of the people probably are men. I started challenges in the past... if you feel up to it start one... they CAN get people motivated.

I think what I did in the past here helped me at that time in my life. I try to look that way a lot about things I go through now. When I was younger I don't think I realized sometimes we have to go through challenges to become the person we are or will be. Right now I'm in a good spot with ME. Even though there are ups & downs in my life, I am ok. I try not to let things overwhelm me or if they do I still try to take time to 'talk to myself' and ask how I feel. That seems to help put things in perspective.

Glenn - I think you missed my point. I didn't mean to suggest I wanted to start a challenge on here. I don't. I don't particularly like them. I wanted to simply Challenge Myself - to do something for me. And perhaps you would like to challenge yourself...to do something for you!

Joyce - some of the things around here helped me in the past. But just the kind of person I am... I like to challenge myself once in awhile. I don't consider (for example) LENT to be a 'challenge'... however I am often able to give up very specific things for 40 days, because my motivation is right. I just decided to challenge myself to do something for 30 days... to make a difference in my journey! Let's see how it goes... Much Love.

Paula, Sounds like a good idea! After all, we are the ones that live with ourselves all the time! We need to challenge ourselves to be the best we can be, for US :-) After those words of wisdom, I'm embarrassed to admit I sort of grimaced when I read your challenge, I always hated exercise but I KNOW I should do more.

Well, pick something else :) Something that would be a challenge to you. Like go w/out something for 30 days (like TV)... or add something like eat 3 different veggies per day/every day...for 30 days... Make it something you can commit to and challenge yourself to see it through!!!

I'm not a challenge person either -- tried a few early on, but was a flunky:)! But, I like your idea of a personal challenge & am coming up with mine. I'm thinking for me, especially since I have these next 14 days of DH family reunion events, that mine will be to take a minimum of 30 minutes each day for myself -- to meditate, pray, journal or whatever I feel I need. Thanks for the great idea! xoxo

Ruth - that's a fantastic challenge! And I can't wait to see at the end of 30 days...if consistently taking that 30 minutes for yourself...makes any kind of a 'difference' to your overall journey! I bet it does!!! Good for you!

I'm reading 'the 4 day win' and it suggests if you can do something 4 days .. it will become a good habit. Maybe think about it that way instead of a whole month. I've always said '21 days' but this author implies through her research the tipping point is really '4'. Just a thought. Good luck!

FullaBella - thanks for the suggestion...perhaps you would like to commit to something for '4' days. I prefer to try this personal challenge for 30 days...just because I like to challenge myself. And because I know it's good for me. It's a win-win!

Challenge yourself! But it is OK to get 100 people or 250 to join you! It is easier. The friendship level is here still, but it was SO tight five years ago. I would read the comments by six or eight women on a page evenings, and it was a laugh. That doesn't exist here now, they're all off. Oh, well. Many just gave up on losing weight. Or moved on with life. One woman a few years ago left as her religious friend said the diet site was a 'tool of Satan' as women sent responses to men. Dear heavens, no one is dating on here. All sorts of hysterical nonsense like that, funny too.

Glenn, maybe some people who are gone have reached their goals and moved one. I hope there are some of those among the group. Paula, I love your challenge.

Helewis - many did reach their goal weight - I did but gained when I got off here. It seems some passed on - as they were older. Actually, the majority I believe went to other sites or gave up totally.
