So my fridge is full of healthier options, then my mother-in-law bakes my favorite apple cake (made with 8 EGGS/2 cups of oil!) and my parents dropped off one of my other favorite Amish treats....turkey salad and whoopie pies!!!!

Is it any wonder that I struggle?!?!?!

Friends don't let friends get fat. Family doesn't let family get fat. Dieters don't let family or friends get them fat. (We let other friends or family eat the stuff)

Glaun, I'm not sure if you are being supportive or sarcastic here! Mike, a whoopie pie is like a devil dog......little round chocolate cakes with icing in between. Google it....oh, wait! That's not being supportive. RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!!!! ;)

Omigosh: Home made Debbil Dawgs? And your parents brought 'em? That's just mean. I loved those things til I found out about the white "icing", a delicious mixture of 50% sugar and 50% Crisco. Freekin' heart attack sammich.

I really was trying to be supportive. My apologies if it came out sarcastic. We are all here to help each other. I think what I was trying to say is that family and friends who really love us still don't understand that even "just one little piece of apple cake" or a favorite Amish treat is just a dangerous to us dieters as is "just one drink for the holidays is to an alcoholic. In my case, it is usually a loved one saying lets send out for pizza. Pizza? You would have to order one for the group and one for me. Better not to have one slice in front of me with the smell and mental taste, cause even if I limit myself to the one piece (300 cal) I will eat the rest by the next evening. Good luck to both of us.

I took my aunt to lunch yesterday. I am gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant, and allergic to soy. I ordered a hamburger patty, fries and water. She told me I should go ahead and have the bun. A little gluten really doesn't hurt anybody. No Understanding. Family think they're helping but often are not.

@Glaun: Yeah, I think I finally understand the food-a-holic problem I have. It's not that that I want A slice of pizza, it's that I want all TEN slices. Am I hungry? Not really, but once it starts it is very hard to stop, even down to the "I'll just eat the toppings". I think I had so much 'Don't waste food' drilled into me that I'd rather eat it and have a clean plate than stop when I'm full.

Glaun, thanks for the clarification. I guess I'm just sensitive about not having enough willpower to always ignore all the temptations around me. I know that I need to occasional treat, but I don't go overboard. If it's pizza, I have veggie pizza. And if I DO have the whoopie pie, I will only cut a small piece off and wrap the rest. Check out today's lunch....Wendy's because someone was being sweet and brought me lunch....UGH!!!!!!!!
