I am invited to a wedding today. Haven't been to a wedding for a few years. Always afraid of how much weight I have put on and being criticised. NOT today. BUT I AM afraid of all the delicious food. I love wedding buffet food, the open bar and the CAKE. How do I plan for this one? One part of me says what the heck, you haven't been to a wedding in years just relax and enjoy,I can go back on my diet on Sunday. The other says NO, control. What should I do? This is hard.

A wedding is a happy occasion and just because you are trying to lose weight doesn't mean you can't enjoy the food. Just don't go overboard. If you want to sample everything take small pieces, or just a few bites. You don't need to eat the whole bar. Lol! By all means have the cake. I don't know about you but I have yet to meet a wedding cake I didn't like. Just take a small piece or eat only part of it and take the rest home to finish at a later date or dates. You can freeze it. Don't let them talk you into taking leftovers home. That way you can indulge and enjoy the day, but can renew your efforts on Sunday. Also, if there is dancing do some. It will counter act the extra calories. Enjoy yourself!

Thanks for giving me some perspective on my dilemma. I guess I have this personality of extremes, either go overboard or not at all and I think the concept of moderation was foreign to me. I do believe, now though that it is the secret to weightloss maintenance and this is where our diets translate to a lifestyle change and not suffering or starvation. GREAT tips.

First off, if ppl seriously make comments to you about weight gain, you need new driends! How rude! These events are definitely challenging. I wound encourage you to not obsesss about it and let it ruin your time. Try to be sensible. If you want cake, eat less of the buffet. Try to load up on the healthy food- if there is any! That's the problem also if you don't have healthy options. Good luck and know its only 1 meal!
