You and me both! What a shock! We can do this. We’ve proven it in the past.

I reflected on this (carbs v hunger) a lot the other day - had banana bread for breakfast and a cookie .... I wanted to eat more & more. Most days it never crosses my mind until dinner time. Is it mental or a true physical reaction?

We had rice pudding in the house; I ate it all day! Like compulsively even though my belly was full. You just don't do that with steak.

Carbs have the same effect on me, so I can't have them in the house.

Well Bella this is what happens to me. If I have something sweet like cookies or banana bread or cake in the morning, I get hungry and I don't eat properly all day. If I eat it late at night, I wake up very hungry yet without it I am not hungry when I wake up. My solution is to eat it later in the afternoon or even early after dinner. It seems to work for me. I rarely eat sugary treats or cake but I know that I have to watch when I eat it during the day if I do, I plan it. I don`t care personally why it is happening this way, I only know that I need to plan these treats if I have them.

BUT with not eating carbs and going to eating a ton some of this will be water. That’ll come off quickly.

Ireland - I generally drink coffee only all day then dinner around 7pm. IF I have anything sweet I have it right at bedtime and I'm ok (not wanting more or waking hungry). I guess we all have to listen to our bodies and pay attention to what works and what doesn't work.

Typically I gain about 10-15 pounds over the holidays and spend January and February taking the weight off (if I'm lucky). This year I did okay, playing around with the same 5 pounds. Having 3 gallbladder attacks within 2 weeks of Thanksgiving really kept me from overeating or eating high fat foods for a couple of weeks. Now I'm involved in a 3 week challenge to eat plants for the next 21 days with only water to drink. I think that will help get those 5 pounds off!

Bella, I read in one of your posts that you were diabetic. Had I known I might have worded my comment differently. I meant to say that I don`t think that it is a mental thing about sugar and reactions. It is good once we know what works for us and not to be influenced by other people.
