The Great Canadian Keto Conference was held last Saturday (August 17) in Toronto, Ontario. No need to specify the province (we're talking about Canada's economic centre) but this is something I like to do.

It took forever to arrive to Toronto from the train! We (I was with a friend) were 1.5 hours late due to maintenance and freight train priority. We were supposed to get off the train around 11 PM, but it was past midnight when we did! I pity the poor lady who hosted us for the night (Airbnb). She was a good sport about it because I would text her updates on our situation in the train.

The weather forecast was bad (thunderstorms), but it was only very rainy in the morning (we were so drenched!) and sometime in the afternoon when we were in a city bus and heard a massive bang! The rest of the day was very sunny, which was great.

We did not attend the actual conferences, but paid for the trade show. It was great! There were many samples. I bought some cookies, muffins and dark chocolate on site. Some products presented at the booths were available online or in local stores in many places in Canada (even the USA). Some others were not (e.g., no delivery outside Ontario or the GTA, or available in Ontario or GTA stores only).

The chocolate booth was a Quebec company, which I was happy about because I could speak French with them and take a break from English! Nothing against the English language, but I will never be perfectly proficient in it.

I even got to try the infamous Epic meat bars! They were given out as samples (full bars) in the attendee bag at the entrance. One was beef, the other one chicken. I loved the beef; the chicken was a bit too acidic for my tastes. I have to admit I did not read the ingredients in the package then, because back home I checked out Amazon.ca, plus the Canada (https://www.epicprovisions.ca) and the US (https://epicprovisions.com) websites. I noticed they added hydrogenated palm oil in the Canadian version, but none of that in the US version. I have nothing against palm oil, but why hydrogenate it? I thought palm oil was already saturated. Maybe it is that is remains firm, but why only in the Canadian version? I have always heard and read that hydrogenated vegetable oil is basically trans fat and can be quite dangerous for health.

I also recognized a few YouTubers: Jimmy Moore (I did not get to see his wife), Amy Berger, Joanna Wilcox (she was with her husband and kids) and also Thomas De Lauer (who I guess did not come as a speaker).

I initially did not want to talk to them, because what would I say to them, I love your show on YouTube? I am a shy and introverted person (a bit less shy as I am getting older, but still shy) and I did not want to bug them because they were probably very tired. However, at the end of the day, I still decided to have a small chat with Jimmy Moore. He was as nice as he seems on social media (I learned back home on that he was banned from YouTube from some reason) and did his legendary hug! I also met Jamie Caporosso from ketodaddy.com (did not know him, but genuinely nice too) and both of them chatted for a while and they seem to have a similar accent! This ended a great day.

This Saturday is really sunny so far! Have a nice weekend!

Thanks so much for writing that! I enjoyed reading it. You described it so well so I got a good sense of the experience. I hope I will get a chance to go to one of those one day.

This is the first I've read of someone attending one of the conferences, thank you. There was one in Houston recently; I didn't discover it in time to plan.
