FrostyLA's Journal, 13 Jul 10

Today is day one, and I've decided to take a different approach. I'm not "dieting". I'm changing what I eat to fit within a certain criteria. My brain goes into detox mode when I say I'm on a diet. I swear I go through withdrawals. I can have a good day and not eat alot or bad stuff without thinking. But if I consciously decide not to eat the crap, or not eat a ton, my brain starts wondering when the next time it gets to eat. It's an addiction for sure.

You are totally correct, it IS an addiction. The beautiful thing is that it can be overcome :-) Don't deny yourself too much early on, and celebrate every one of your successful choices by complimenting yourself and allowing yourself to feel good about it. If you make a choice that you feel bad about, don't beat yourself up, just spend a moment thinking about what led you there, and what you might change in your head the next time.

I can relate! My brain loves to try to keep me thinking about food. I took control by planning a full days menu including snacks a day ahead. Now I KNOW when and what I am eating next. So now I just remind myself of the good stuff I have planned when I feel like munching on something. Eating 3 meals and an a couple snacks I feel like I am eating all the time. Planning works wonders for me!

Thanks for the comments! I swear some people just don't understand! I am so glad I found this site, where so many people are going through the same thing.
