What kind of reaction? I do know that too much can stall you, so you are limited to 3 per day. They can also cause sweet cravings.

I have a lot of adverse reactions to Splenda. It has to do with how it is manufactured. Try cutting it out for a few days, and see what happens.

I think the splenda is stalling my weight loss and it is causing abdominal bloating and water retention. I will stop using it for a week and check for improvement.

I really need to learn how to drink black coffee *gag* haha!!

That is very possible, I have the same problems when I use too much. I also developed joint aches and headaches when I used it. I did some research and found that it is made using chlorine molecules, and that can cause the side effects the same as ingesting chlorine!

Headaches are a big one for me when I use too much artifical sweeteners. And black coffee isn't bad. just a little getting used to.

I use heavy whipping cream in my coffee, and it adds more than enough sweetness, fat, and no carbs.

Oh, you might try adding a little bit of an Atkins or EAS shake. Not only will you get your cream but the sweetener as well. I haven't tried it yet but I know a lot of people that do.

Unfortunately, artificial sweeteners are definitely one of those things that you have to figure out how your body is reacting to it. Splenda causes craving for me. Aspartame stalls my sister.

Thanks for all the insight on Splenda and possible reactions. I am having a Splenda free morning. When I drink green tea, I don't miss Splenda because I drink green tea straight. I will use just one pack of Stevia to sweeten my oatmeal. I reasearched and didn't find many negatives about Stevia. I have to break my "coffee = sweet" association!

I'm happy with my decision to get off Splenda. One problem is that I have a whole jug of protein that is sweetned with Splenda. That's not cheap so I may have to use that up. I'm not going to use it for a week to see how my body reacts with no splenda but I'm going to have to get a replacement protein that uses Stevia as the sweetner. I'll use the BioPure up over time, it shouldn't hurt me if I don't use it every day.

Sounds like a good plan, JJ. It is so hard sometimes to find out exactly what our reaction to certain chemicals are. After a week, you should be able to tell if it is the Splenda that is causing the problems that you are experiencing.
