stephiebarker's Journal, 14 Nov 12

I have been working out three days a week for almost a month now and not really seeing any weight loss. I know it has been only a short time, but I feel I am working so hard and seeing very little (if any) results! This is discouraging. The postive I can find from this is if I even think about not working out on one of my scheduled nights or skipping a class I feel guilty. That makes me feel a tab better that I want to keep working out :)

Keep working out! You will feel better and eventually your clothes will fit better.

Hi philanddeb, I have started eating breakfast (which I never used to do)and eating lunch and a small dinner. I never used to eat three meals a day but have recently started. I am staying away from all fast foods and eating things such as soups, grilled chicken, raw veggies, egg whites, and fruit. I will eat bread occasionally but in moderation b/c I feel if I deny myself these things I will only end up caving in and over eating. Any advice you can offer would be appreaciated :)

Stephie, I really like what you're doing at the gym. It encourages me to keep pushing forward. I have radically changed my eating but that doesn't mean it's for everyone. I really like that you're eating breakfast, because that's going to help raise your metabolic rate for the day. I eat all day long...like every 3 hours, just little mini meals. A lot of fruits, veggies, nuts...a lot of water. I dumped bread, pasta, white rice, sugar, oils (including olive oil) and all foods that have chemicals. I eat meat on occasion. What I found is that by eliminating grain foods like bread, I don't crave them at all. I think the carbs made me eat more of everything that wasn't good for me. I saw a few films that really helped too. 'Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead,' 'Forks Over Knives' and other documentaries about food really made an impact on me. I love to look at the before and after videos on YouTube too. There's also two videos on YouTube entitled, 'Too Fat For 15,'inspired me to return to health! I immerse myself in Dr. Oz or anything I can soak in about this process that is positive. I've lost 20 lbs in just over a month. I don't have the stamina you have (yet) but I'm working on strengthening my core each day. My cardio stinks though. I have always gotten winded easily so I have to really push myself though it. I'm only walking for cardio and doing a lite zumba until my wind improves. Well, thanks for asking for my thoughts. It's good to know we can support one another. Just know that I don't expect anyone to think I'm an authority on any of this...because I'm not. I'm just doing what "feels" right for me. Take care and talk again soon! :) Deb
