This past week has been full of ups and downs; and I'm thankful, to God, that there have been more ups, than downs. :-) I began the week by reaching a new low in my weight loss, certainly a victory; was complimented by a student telling me, I look smaller, than the last time she'd seen me, another victory; gained a small amount of weight back, by making the mistake of getting sugar laden, instead of sugar free, cough drops; and finally, attending the Home Going ceremony of my brother's mother-in-law. Yes, my brother's mother-in-law, passed away, one week ago, and we had her Home Going, yesterday; but it wasn't, truly, a time of sorrow. We were celebrating the life of a remarkable woman, and though there were some tears of sadness, there was a great many more of joy, in knowing that she has gone home to be with the Lord. In a time where it's stereotypical for people to have had problems with their in-laws; this is what my brother had to say about his mother-in-law, "Hey ma, I would always say when I walked through your door, you always had a kind word for me, thank you, for allowing me to be a part of the family, Love always, your son in law". This was only one of the warm sentiments, shared, at yesterday's preceedings. Also, of special note, a long time friend of their family, came to join in on the celebration, and blessed everyone, by singing for all those in attendance; Stevie Wonder. He was there, to celebrate her life, fellowship with the family and friends, and gracious enough to allow a few pictures to be taken, during the Repast. He also came by my brother's house, later in the evening, and continued to hang out, eat some more, and just chill, with family and friends. It was a pleasure meeting him, as this was my first time, whereas my brother, and sister-in-law, have known him for years, and told me such while I was still living on the West Coast. It was so nice to celebrate someone's life, that way; and even cooler to have Stevie come and join us. It was also kinda cool to have a conversation with the, 6 ft, 6in, tall body guard, that was there with Stevie, as he was one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. The music was great, the food fantastic, and everyone in chill mode; the end of an interesting week indeed. :-)
