I've slowly lost 45 pounds over the past eight months and it's staying lost. According to the BMI charts I still need to shed 30 more pounds in order to move out of the overweight category. It's slow going but I'll get there. Anyone else in the same boat?

This is the slowest I have ever working through my weight loss. Keep taking little breaks along the way. I think the difference is this time I don’t go nuts binging when I take breaks so I feel like my mind set is changing and I am finally realizing that I can’t lose weight and then treat myself with every treat I’ve ever enjoyed and lots of it. I think this may be slow but when I get to normal weight it will stay from now on.

45 lbs in 8 months is almost 6 lbs a month .7 lbs per week - I think that is great! It took me a lot longer - but the trend consistently goes the right way - that's what matters! Great job

Thanks for all your nice comments everyone. I lost quite quickly at the beginning when I was really heavy but now that I've lost 45 pounds the rate has slowed to a crawl. Eating three 300-calorie meals at home helps me stay on track. I never snack now except for a cup of skim milk each evening. We still have guests though and that's where I run into problems--a dessert, a glass of wine, snacks, meat, warm bread and the meal becomes a 1000-calorie bomb. It's still a better way of eating as a way of life. No cutting out whole categories of food, no skipped meals, no feeling starved or deprived or craving and accepting social events as part of the challenge.

I’m supposed to be 145 for my BMI and hover around 150-152... I’m ok with this as I’ve lost over 40 inches as well and BMI is just a number assigned to a height. I felt I looked sickly at 148 or lower so I’m better up a little. It’s up to you as to how you feel too at your weight. You may not want to loose all that much more but it depends on what you think. I just found my face looked gaunt and sucked in when I lost too much.

I just finished a course on eating without dieting. I'm trying intermittent fasting which for me means going 12--13 hours without eating. ie overnight. No more evening snacks. It's hard but I'm getting used to it and it got me out of a plateau.

BMI can be a hard thing to properly calculate. Understanding that weight loss is your objective, it might not be helpful to suggest working on how you feel rather than what BMI you are at. My fat content couldn’t be measured properly, said I was at 42%. I just don’t have elastic skin. Another method showed me at 24%... 🤷🏻‍♀️ I feel good, and am relatively happy with the way my body feels under my hand, and I find that more satisfying to be honest.

I have no idea how much fat I have but suspect there's still plenty of visceral fat in the belly area. I find my waist/hip ratio is staying too high despite weight loss and inches declining.
